SEP sesam Delivers - Increasing Demand for Data Backup in Virtual Environments

5.2.09 – SEP AG will showcase its newest addition to its already rich suite of products for the backup, restore and disaster recovery marketplace at CeBIT (Hannover, from 3. - 8. March) in Hall 2, Stand D32 together with their partner Cristie Data Products. This year’s focus is on SEP sesam backup solution for the Microsoft world and for its newest release for Windows Server 2008. SEP sesam now supports the 64 bit version ofWindows Server 2008.

SEP sesam fits the bill for any business or enterprise. Select offerings available for one, five or 64 multiplexed data streams-SEP flexible licensing matches customer requirements. The user can select the right product for his data backup needs. SEP backup solutions cover the field delivering a tailored backup and disaster recovery solution for every need.

Our partner, Cristie Data Products GmbH (www.cristie.de) of Niedernberg, will be at our stand displaying their newest of CMBR Version 6.1 of their “Bare Metal Restore“-Software with support for Windows Server 2008. Combined with SEP sesam, Cristie can deliver a disaster recovery solution in the event of a catastrophic failure within minutes. The newest release allows recovery to practically any hardware in the shortest possible time whether it is on Intel or AMD based hardware or even a VMware system.

To answer the increased demand for backup in virtualized environments SEP will be demonstrating both the VMware ESX host backup solution as well as their newest XEN online disaster recovery module. Using the SEP sesam ESX client and VCB (Virtual Consolidated Backup) the complete, running VMware environment can be backed up. SEP’s newest product backs up running Linux Servers running in XEN virtualization. Now the entire virtualized environment can be secured with software from one vendor: SEP sesam. Additionally, SEP will demonstrate its functionality to migrate from Novell’s NetWare to the newest Novell operating system-Open Enterprise Server 2 (OES2). Using SEP sesam as the data mover, a backup of the NetWare server is performed and restored to a similar file structure on the OES2 Server, preserving all trustee rights and eDirectories.SEP sesam 3.4 offers support for all popular Windows, Linux und Unix operating systems.

Furthermore, SEP delivers special modules for online backup of all popular databases and groupware offerings. SEP sesam performs LAN free backup and is especially suited for SAN’s and NAS implementations SEP has the highest number of certifications in SAP R/3 environments working with either Oracle 10g or the MaxDB databases.
