New features

Saveset duplication and migration

Savesets could be copied from one backup medium to another. Sesam keeps track of all copies and every one could be used for restore, until last one is deleted. Usefull for Disk to Disk to Tape strategies

Unicode support for Windows clients

Sesam backup client for windows supports now all unicode character in filenames. Also filesystem browsing of such files works correct now.

No length restrictions in path length of windows files

Sesam saves files with a full path length longer than 260 characters

Backup of encrypted files on Windows

Because encrypted files on Windows could not be saved by the common Windows backup API, special handling for them is required. Sesam backup client can now handle such files.

Improved restores

Scheduled restores become much more flexible. You can create a restore task to restore for example every day the backup taken exactly one year (month, day ...) before. So you can check, if your backups are still usable. A complete restore with an consistence check is much more reliable, then every verify run.

Compression of LIS files

If key compress_lis is set in table defaults to an value other then 0, Sesam journal files older then value are compressed by gzip

Smaller improvements

• Sesam DB on Postgresql: Vacuum DB during sm_newday
• ULT3580-TD3 and ULTRIUM-TD3: Tape drives correctly recognized by automatic configuration as LTO
• GroupWise on Linux: Task type GroupWise can be selected for a Linux client too

Bugfixes

Calculating next execution for weekly schedules

Next exectution time for schedules like all 4 weeks was correctly calulated during creation. But, if schedule was changed later, calculation was made incorrectly. This is fixed now.

Use firewall options during client configuration

Firewall settings were only used for backup and restore, so client configuration from GUI could fail. Now firewall settings for a client are used for testing connection between client and server at once.

Use of SPARE media works correctly again

Because of changed command line of sm_arch, initialisation of a SPARE medium fails with error message:

Now sm_robot uses correct command line.

Speed up generation restore with many files

Selective generation restore with many files selected needed to much time to start (up to some hours). Now generating file list need only a few seconds.

Restore of files >4GB and ACLs

If a file with filesize>4GB and POSIX ACLs set sbc incorrectly calculated size of ACL to real size + 2GB. Restore failed with message syncronisation lost. Calculation of ACL size was corrected.

List of subscribed folders in Open-Xchange Restore

Subcription of public folders was removed during restore. Now add already subscribed folders correctly again-

Smaller fixes

• Fix buffer overflow in sm_ctrld
• sm_recover works on tapes with no saveset header in first segment
• Correct spelling of Open-Xchange-Server (was Open-Exchange)

Open issues

• Saveset migration can only be stopped by release drive function, not over the context menu in Status screen.
• All pictures in documentation still use old GUI icons
