Sesam Server and Java 1.6 (JRE)

When I tried to install the Sesam server onto my SLES 10 SP3 server it fails with the dependencies of jre > 1.6 I have downloaded the RPM and the Tar.gz file for java and followed the instructions but still Sesam fails, how do I get my Linux system to see that java 1.6 is installed?
